Additional Backup Information: The Relocation of the 36-inch Water Line across Colorado River project consists of replacing approximately 250 linear feet of water line crossing the Colorado River along US Highway 183. The existing 24-inch water line at this location is exposed and requires replacement with a larger 36-inch line, which will be relocated and installed at a lower depth. This project will maintain and improve existing water service for customers both north and south of the Colorado River. Environmental mitigation measures will be incorporated into the project and required erosion and environmental controls will be utilized. The project will use horizontal directional drilling under the river and Austin Parks and Recreation property, avoiding impacts to existing streambanks and trees. Additionally, removal of the exposed section of the existing water line from the river will improve low-flow conditions and reduce future erosion.
