HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION Applications for Demolition and Relocation Permits November 4, 2026 PR-2026-125678 3308 Cherry Lane 22 – 1 Proposal Demolish a ca. 1949 house. Architecture This single-story L-shaped house is simple in form and does not have many decorative elements. The front façade features a small center recessed porch set a few steps above grade and accessed via concrete stairs. There are three 6-over-6 wood windows on this side, two of which feature decorative shutters. The side gabled roof is set at a moderate pitch, and features a small front gable projecting out toward the street. The lap siding that clads the house is original and in good condition. Overall, this property has not been significantly altered and is an excellent intact example of port-WWII housing in this area of Austin. Research Original owners of this house were Brunelle & Mildred Moon, who raised at least one child while living at the address. Brunelle worked as a cabinet maker, and together the family stayed at the property until around 1950. By the 1960s, it was owned by Nelda Ryden (later Nelda Starkey), who worked as a typist and office secretary. During this time, she raised daughter Teri Kay Starkey until she married and moved out in 1972. Nelda Starkey was listed as the owner until around 1976, at which time she worked for the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Department Comments This application will time out on December 18, 2027.
