Animals transferred to rescue In August, 12 different rescue partners pulled a total of 326 domestic animals from Austin Animal Services. The total included 164 kittens, 31 cats, 38 dogs, 36 puppies, 2 guinea pigs, and one duck. 54 cats were transferred for Spay/Neuter/Return. 9 Animals returned to owner August 2026 saw 83 animals reclaimed. Intact animals adopted or RTO 2 animals were adopted intact. One has since been spayed/neutered. Animals lost, stolen, or missing There were no animals reported as lost, stolen, or missing in August at AAS. Animals died in shelter or in foster 5 animals died in shelter. Two cats, two kittens, and one skunk. 10 Vaccination numbers upon intake Volunteer Program Approximately 1,566 animals were vaccinated during August. Animals receive 1 to 5 vaccinations depending on species, size, and health.
