Amount and Source of Funding Funding in the amount of $2,465,700 is available in the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Operating Budget of Austin Water. Funding for the remaining contract term is contingent upon available funding in future budgets. The Financial Services Department issued an Invitation for Bids (IFB) 2200 WJT1010 for these goods. The solicitation issued was on October 25, 2021 and it closed on November 16, 2021. Of the two offers received the recommended contractor submitted the lowest responsive offer. This solicitation was reviewed for subcontracting opportunities in accordance with City Code Chapter 2-9D Minority Owned and Women Owned Business Enterprise Procurement Program. For the goods required for this solicitation, there were insufficient subcontracting opportunities; therefore, no subcontracting goals were established. Purchasing Language: Prior Council Action: Boards and Commission Action: MBE/WBE: Sodium permanganate is commonly used in water treatment to control taste and odor, reduce biological growth, and remove iron and manganese. Austin Water plans to incorporate sodium permanganate into the treatment process to combat taste and odor causing compounds and potential cyanotoxins that can occur intermittently in the source water. This additional capability will further bolster the existing multi-barrier process, which includes disinfection, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration. This is a new contract. The requested amounts were determined by departmental estimates using historical, current, and projected spending data.
