Recommendation 20251117-008 supports the Rally Austin’s Bond Proposal, Rally Austin, the City’s first multi-purpose local government corporation, was created by Austin City Council to facilitate equitable, community-driven development and deliver projects that generate public benefit, including attracting tourism. 6. The Commission’s goal is to provide guidance and strategic recommendations to the City Council on all matters related to hotel occupancy tax (HOT) revenue and tourism related initiatives to support the City’s economic vitality and cultural promotion. Our objectives for the next year are as follows: • Advise the City Council on the allocation, investment strategies, and annual budgeting of HOT revenue and related funding sources. • Provide recommendations on city infrastructure and facility investments that support and enhance tourism. • Review and advise on special events and other city sponsored events with major tourism impacts. • Evaluate and recommend marketing and advertising initiatives related to promoting Austin’s special events, music, arts, cultural assets, and current and future tourist attractions. • Review studies, reports, and planning documents related to the Austin Convention Center, including any proposed expansions, and provide timely recommendations. • Monitor and advise on state and federal legislation a(cid:431)ecting the municipal use of hotel occupancy taxes. • Address additional tourism-related issues as requested by the City Council or identified by the Tourism Commission.
