Customer Energy Solutions FY21 – Quarter 3 Report As of 06/30/2021 Quarterly Rebates by District and Outside of COA Solar PBI not included. Rebates paid may not align with AE Finance eCombs system as of 06/30/21. Dollars are unaudited. Energy Efficiency Services Residential Programs • 411 homes have been weatherized, with 154 in the pipeline and 139 to be assigned. AE Weatherization (WAP) – Direct Install Appliance Efficiency Program (AEP) • Held a Heat Pump Water Heater Meeting in Collaboration with Energy Star and OEMs. • Total rebate amount of $819,194 paid YTD. • To date completed 3056 installed units covering 5 measures. • • Implementation of EECP training for AEP participating contractors. In testing phase of Enrollment Application Update, allowing customers and contractors to make corrections. Home Performance w/Energy Star (HPwES) • 440 projects and $1,029,190 spent to date per EECP. • Modified and launched the seasonal AC Tune-up measure on 6/25/2021. • Developed the details and budget for the End of Summer Offer which will be launched in Q4. 1 SPUR – Instant Savings • Instant Savings has recently introduced electric lawn equipment to the product bundle and has had a fantastic customer response. These products include all electric lawn mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers and a combo trimmer/blower at The Home Depot. • • Recruited a new category of retailers to join Instant Savings in order to provide a new level of support to low income qualified customers. The retailers include Salvation Army, St, Vincent de Paul and Re- Habitat for Humanity. In the process of adding an environmental savings category to our report to CO2 emissions removed by pound per year. All-Stars • This school-based education program is not active in the summer however our 3rd party vendor (Blue Ocean Energy Mgmt.) is working on the completion of three video presentations to add additional support to the teachers during the experience. Multifamily Rebates & Multifamily Income Qualified Rebates Programs • 1,827 Total units completed • $636,151 Total incentives paid • Added summer bonus to Standard program and safety measures to Income Qualified • Piloting PTAC tune-up measure Commercial Programs Commercial and Small Business Rebates Program • Implemented a limited time bonus as a means to assist customers with capital requirements to allow them to reduce their overhead. • Revised HVAC and Chiller offerings to simplify the rebate structure in hopes to give customers better tools to make economic decisions. Demand Response Programs Power Partner Thermostat • Called 6 events since the beginning of the summer period (June-September) • Roughly 1,400 devices have been added to the program since the start of the summer (June 1), bringing the total active number to roughly 40,000. • A summer promotion, which increases the regular $85 incentive to $130, kicked off July 1 and will end September 6. Load Coop/Automated Demand Response (ADR) • Called 7 events since the beginning of the summer period (June-September) • Continued customer migration to Automated Demand Response (ADR) and new program offerings • Added participants to expanded event program options • Existing participants added additional facilities to program Water Heater Timers • This a service and support program for approximately 22,000 remaining timers installed in MF properties for demand response • The program began about 2000 and will sunset at the end of 2021 2 Green Building Outreach • • No new activity this quarter • Assisted existing participants with AutoDR testing and implementation o Customers expanding their AutoDR capabilities to include additional facilities. o Testing for opportunities to utilize existing DR automation for new ERCOT ERS enrollments. Sponsored the annual Austin Green Awards which recognizes outstanding accomplishments in the broad arena of sustainable design and innovation • Participated in the AI/ML for Social Good Project Design Annual Symposium hosted by UT Austin and the City of Austin, the AIA Austin Allied Member Roundtable and DesignVoice events, and the Community Powered Workshop ‘Just Places’ event • Presented at the USGBC Greenbuild 2020 conference, AIA Austin Advocacy Committee, University of Texas Architectural Engineering class, Texas State Interior Design Class • Coordinated monthly online Professional Development Seminars on the topics of the new City of Austin Permitting and Development Center including a virtual tour, Building Materials: Health, Equity and Environment, Infrastructure and Public Health, Engaging Community for Equitable Development, Indoor Air Quality and Health, Healthy Indoor Environment Strategies, Building Electrification, and Sustainability at the Airport including a virtual tour and videos • Created a webpage on the City of Austin PublicInput community engagement platform to gather public comments on the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) proposed changes Launched ‘Green Building for Site Superintendents’ as an online on demand test course • • Hosted the 25th Cool House Tour, an online event, co-produced with the Texas Solar Energy Society. Because Austin Energy sponsored the anniversary year ticket costs for this annual TXSES fundraiser, registration tripled from the previous year’s virtual event. Total registrations were 1038 and actual tour day attendees were 419. The event was recorded, and a link was distributed afterward to registrants. To date, the Part I recording has been viewed 175 times and the Part II recording has been viewed 113 times. • Awarded ratings to 283 homes of which 57% are in SMART Housing developments • Awarded ratings to an additional 483 homes in the surrounding area outside of Austin Energy service • Released Single Family Innovation Guide version 2 • Conducted Annual Extended Area Rater training Single Family Rating Multifamily Rating • Reported 11 projects through Q3 of FY21 comprising 1,890 units and 2,195,240 square feet • Awarded ratings to S.M.A.R.T. Housing developments: 4-star rating to AHA! at Briarcliff, 27 units; 3-star rating to Clawson Ridge, 39 units; 1-star ratings to Bridge at Granada, 258 units; Elysium Grand, 90 units; Creekview Apartment Homes, 264 units; The Weaver (fka RBJ Apartments), 250 units; Bridge at Cameron, 263 units; Colorado Creek Apartments, 240 units • Awarded 2-star rating to Korina at the Grove, 370 units; 1-star ratings to Hatchery Building 5, 30 units; 1600 S 1st Street, 59 units Commercial Rating • Reported 17 projects through Q3 of FY21 comprising 4,098,809 square feet and 1,083 dwelling units 3 • Awarded 4-star ratings to TA Brown Elementary School (also LEED Gold), Indeed Tower (aka Block 71), City of Austin Planning & Development Center, City of Austin Del Valle Fire and EMS Station; 3-star rating to Eastlake at Tillery; 2-star ratings to Charles Schwab Austin Corporate Campus Building AUS, South Shore IV, 322 units, Foundation Communities’ Prosper Center-South, Republic Square (also LEED Certified), Colorado Tower (aka Third and Colorado); 1-star ratings to Velocity Credit Union-Downtown Branch, Hatchery Buildings D & E, Hilton Garden Inn, Moxy Hotel Austin, and S.M.A.R.T. Housing developments Hilltop Student Housing, 142 units and Moontower (aka 2204 San Antonio–Student Housing), 166 units. Reported LEED Silver project: Maravilla at The Domain (aka SRG Domain Living Center), 232 units. • AEGB Commercial Customers earned points for participating in other CES programs: Four projects included EV charging, One project subscribed 100% to GreenChoice Integrated Modeling Incentive • Initiated the post-occupancy verification phase for all active projects: Dell Jewish Community Center, ABIA New Information and Technology Building, Austin Energy Headquarters, Holdsworth Center, Harold Court, Cambrian East Riverside, and Waterloo Terrace. • Began evaluation and modification of the program to better serve our customers. Closed program to new project applications during this transition period. Energy Code • Posted 2021 IECC Proposed Ordinance changes for Residential and Commercial provisions on PublicInput.com for public comment from March 15 through April 15. • Adopted by City Council the 2021 IECC Ordinance effective September 1, 2021 • Selected as member of Residential Energy Code Consensus Committee for development of 2024 IECC Customer Renewable Solutions Outreach Events training.
