Criminal Arrest - Engagements involving the arrest of an individual for a criminal offense, where immigration-related factors were also identified during the incident but not the reason for the arrest. Custody by ICE - Engagements where an individual was taken into custody by ICE. Information Gathering/Sharing- Engagements where APD collected, exchanged, or verified information related to a subject, without direct enforcement action. Release per Immigration Instructions - Engagements where no arrestable offense occurred and immigration officials indicated they would not be taking custody of the subject for an administrative immigration warrant at that time. Source: APD RMS as of July 1, 2026 4 DIGITAL EVIDENCE MANAGEMENT UNIT (DEMU) BACKLOG REDUCTION Since January 1, 2026, DEMU has significantly reduced the outstanding evidence backlog while continuing to process a high volume of incoming requests. This is a net decrease of 8,892 requests YTD. • • District Attorney requests also demonstrated continued improvement, with the outstanding queue decreasing from 5,245 requests to 1,440. The most significant improvement occurred within the County Attorney request category, which decreased from 5,691 outstanding requests to 305. Figures reflect DEMU operational requests tracking as of June 30, 2026. Metrics are preliminary and subject to validation and operational updates. These numbers do not include juvenile request or duplicate requests. Which has placed a renewed focus on bringing in a media literacy expert to deepen instructor understanding of multimedia use in classrooms. ▪ Kroll: Video Library ▪ With the help of the Police Technology Unit, continued work is being completed on the technology infrastructure to support a Video Library. ▪ CSCRM ▪ Feedback is being integrated into the PAC review process to streamline SME input in academy curriculum. ▪ Internship Pipeline ▪ The Academy is working with the City to build out an effective internship program for Sworn and Civilians, including partnering with the SkillBridge Program and Texas State University. ▪ Migrating Testing System ▪ In a close partnership between our e-Learning team and the Cadet Training Unit, we are transitioning from an unsupported paper testing system to testing in online Learning Management Systems(LMS).The transition is anticipated to start with the 159th cadet class.
