October 2024 Paramedics Hired and Training 8 New paramedics are recruited and undergo rigorous training, preparing them for 24/7 operations. November 2024 All Priority 5 calls are directed to C4, ensuring seamless transition and consistent Priority 5 Calls Referred service. November 18, 2024 24-Hour Operations Begin C4 fully transitions to 24-hour operations, providing uninterrupted service to the community. January 2025 C4: Safety & Efficiency Proven Safety Record Reduced Ambulance Use With C4, only 0.3% of patients are transported with lights and C4 helps reduce unnecessary ambulance transports. 30% of sirens (Code 3), demonstrating our commitment to safe and patient contacts are safely managed without requiring an efficient care. ambulance dispatch, optimizing resource allocation. Select Priority 5 Calls to C4 Immersive Simulation Training (Sim-Lab) Immersive simulation transforms the classroom, and even mobile units, into fully immersive spaces that provide a realistic and safe training environment for our providers with the goal to improve patient outcomes through innovation, education and technology. Sensory Feedback Visual Tactile Auditory Olfactory Fixed Sim-Lab Uses Initial Education Programs • EMT and ECA courses for new hire and Explorers (youth program) • Internal Paramedic School New Hire Academy • Initial training and testing Critical Care Paramedics (PL6) • Preliminary training and annual competency verification for advanced practice paramedics Maintenance of Credentials • Annual evaluation of all certification levels to ensure competencies Continuing Education (CE) • Incorporate performance improvement data into scenario-based training • Train new medical protocols and procedures (whole blood program) High Stress Low Frequency Training • Situations that are potentially very dangerous or life-threatening for the patient, but occur infrequently Mobile Sim-Lab Uses New Hire Academy- Mobile sim-labs deployed at the Public Safety Training Center for weekly cadet scenarios. On Duty Ambulance Crew Training- Mobile sim-labs strategically placed in command districts for scenario-based training. Ensures ambulances remain available for 911 calls and are not displaced for on-duty training. Joint Training with Partner Agencies- Allows opportunities for joint trainings with our partner agencies throughout the City of Austin and Travis County. Community Outreach & Education- Mobile sim-labs will be used at Community Events such Hands Only CPR, Stop The Bleed, and Emergency Preparedness Clinics. Project Update Fixed Sim-Lab (located at EDWD) Went On-Line in March of 2024 Fixed Sim-Lab Data: - - 162 scenarios conducted for the 2024 Spring Continuing Education semester. 108 scenarios conducted for the 2024 Fall Continuing Education semester. Upcoming Trainings: Advanced Practice Paramedic- December 2024 PL5 Academy (Clinical Specialist)- November 2024 Internal Paramedic Program- January 2025 Mobile Sim-Labs are scheduled to arrive in January and will Go-Live in March of 2025
