JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 22nd, 2022 JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE (JIC) June 22nd, 2022 at 3:00pm Austin City Hall Boards and Commissions Room 301 W. 2nd Steet, Austin, TX AUSTIN, TEXAS MEETING MINUTES This meeting is being held in a hybrid format, and some members of the Commission may be participating by videoconference. Public comment will be allowed in person or via telephone. Remote speakers must register in advance (June 21st by 12pm-Noon). All residents must contact the Equity Office’s Commission/Neighborhood Liaison, Jeremy Garza, no later than 12pm-Noon on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. The information required is the speaker’s name, the item number(s) they wish to speak on, whether they are for/against/neutral, email address, and telephone number (must be the same number that will be used to call into the meeting. Public comment will be allowed in-person or remotely by telephone. Speakers may only register to speak on an item once either in-person or remotely and will be allowed up to three minutes to provide their comments. Registration no later than noon the day before the meeting is required for remote participation. Motion by Karen Crawford to approve the JIC meeting minutes from May 2022. Seconded by Robin Orlowski. No motion for addition or corrections. All in favor, none opposed, motion passes unanimously. 2. PRESENTATIONS a. Colony Park Development: Budget recommendation from the African American Resource Advisory Commission tabled for additional information • Reporting to City Council & the Mayor at the end of June 2022 • 380 units of affordable housing • The only anti-displacement measures are through community partnerships, of which Project Connect Anti-displacement dollars are the only partnership & dollars somewhat confirmed. • Please refer to presentation and recording on backup. b. Community focused process used by Community Advancement Network – send an email to Charles Curry if you are interested in applying this framework to the JIC. c. CONNECTATX JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES 3. OLD BUSINESS June 22nd, 2022 a. Discussion of FY22-23 Budget Process, Recommendations and Endorsements b. The budget office has agreed to a presentation on the City Manager’s proposed budget on Wednesday July 20th. a. Staff Presentation from the Office of Sustainability on Austin’s First Food Plan – w/ FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Sergio Torres-Peralta ADJOURNMENT At 5:07pm The minutes were approved at the July 20th special called meeting on Commissioner Cobalis’ motion, and Commissioner Griffith’s second, on a unanimous vote. The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the American with Disabilities Act. Reasonable modifications and equal access to communications will be provided upon request. Meeting locations are planned with wheelchair access. If requiring Sign Language Interpreters or alternative formats, please give notice at least 2 days (48 hours) before the meeting date.
