JOINT INCLUSSION COMMITTEE (JIC)  RECCOMENDATION ON QUALITY‐OF‐LIFE STUDIES  RECOMMENDATION #: 20220323‐005h  Date: March 23, 2022 Subject: JIC Recommendation for Adopting a New Budget Process and Schedule Motioned By: Rebecca Austen Seconded By: Robin Orlowski   JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION ON QUALITY OF LIFE STUDIES  VOTE    For:           Amanda Afifi, Vincent Cobalis, Raul Alvarez, Karen Crawford, Rebecca Austen,      Charles Curry, Amy Temperley, Robin Orlowski.  Against:   None.  Abstain:   None.  Absent:    Jamarr Brown & Gregory Smith      Attest:      Jeremy Garza, Staff Liaison, Equity Office:                   x_______________________________             RECOMMENDATION 20220323‐005g: QUALITY OF LIFE STUDIES FOR JIC COMMISSION MEMBERS  WHEREAS, for the City to prioritize sustainable well‐being for all residents and communities in Austin,  there must be regularly scheduled checkpoints that update and identify current quality of life  conditions. Some member commissions of the Joint Inclusion Committee have quality of life studies  that need updating. Other member commissions have never had a baseline quality of life study.    WHEREAS, the Joint Inclusion Committee is charged with making recommendations to Council. Having  current quality of life studies will better inform our recommendations.    NOW, THEREFORE BE IS RESOLVED, that this recommendation requests an on‐going budget line item  that provides funding and resources to intentionally commit the City of Austin to regularly scheduled  quality of life surveys and reporting for all member commissions of the Joint Inclusion Committee.      We recommend regularly scheduled updates to those studies that may include ongoing data  collection and surveys.    We recommend the City of Austin improve data collection and make that data available, so  that our Commissions can have access to ongoing demographic and performance data.    We recommend that the City collect additional demographic data about people who receive  city services, including but not limited to sexual orientation and gender identity.  Page 1 of 1
