Human Rights Commission Meeting January 25, 2021 Human Rights Commission to be held January 25, 2021 with Social Distancing Modifications Public comment will be allowed via telephone; no in-person input will be allowed. All speakers must register in advance (January 24, 2021 by noon). All public comment will occur at the beginning of the meeting. To speak remotely at the January 25, 2021 Human Rights Commission Meeting, members of the public must: •Call or email the board liaison Jonathan Babiak at (512) 974-3276 or jonathan.babiak@austintexas.gov no later than noon, January 24, 2021 (the day before the meeting). The following information is required: speaker name, item number(s) they wish to speak on, whether they are for/against/neutral, email address and telephone number (must be the same number that will be used to call into the meeting). •Once a request to speak has been made to the board liaison, the information to call on the day of the scheduled meeting will be provided either by email or phone call. •Speakers must call in at least 15 minutes prior to meeting start time in order to speak, late callers will not be accepted and will not be able to speak. •Speakers will be placed in a queue until their time to speak. •Handouts or other information may be emailed to jonathan.babiak@austintexas.gov by noon the day before the scheduled meeting. Consider approval of the minutes from the Human Rights Commission’s October 26, 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2020 Regular Meeting. 2. NEW BUSINESS a. Presentation by Cynthia Turner, AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer and Pro Bono Attorney Engagement Specialist, and discussion regarding successes as an organization and request for support in making immigration funding a priority in the City's budget for next year. (Davis/Brown, J./Casas) b. Discussion regarding planning and logistics of a future meeting agenda item related to Community Budget Forum. (Davis/Brown, J./Casas) c. Discussion and possible action related to Austin, Texas Covid19 response and its impact on communities of color. (Museitif/Davis) d. Discussion and possible action regarding 87th State Legislative Agenda. (Davis/Brown, J./Casas) 3. OLD BUSINESS a. Commissioners will report on and discuss the status of the Commission’s key priority areas of concern for 2020-2021, including plans and strategies for meeting those key priority areas of concern: i. Institutional Equity ii. Environment & Land Use iii. Health Access & Nutrition iv.
