Submission to Historical Preservation Office 4309 Avenue D Hyde Park Austin TX 2026-093502 PR We are restoring 4309 Avenue D to a single family residence and adding an Accessory Dwelling Unit to the garage in back. For the front house, we are removing the second front door and adding a brick porch at the floor level of the home. Common in much of Hyde Park. Photos of area included: The new porch will have new 8” round traditional painted columns by HBG PermaCast – smooth non-tapered. Gable will be resided with smaller fiberglass rectangular make-up air vent typical of Hyde Park. New siding as reqd will be Hardie lap siding in coursing to match original as possible. New Asphalt shingle roof – three tab – grey. Columns and gable vents to fit Hyde Park. New Windows will be operable one over one double-hung units to match existing rough openings. The kitchen and bedroom extensions happen at the rear of the building leaving original structure intact. Hip and gable roof forms of matching pitch for addition with attic for mechanical equipment. Electrical service will be relocated underground. Existing sewer and water lines to remain with no disruption of tree root zones. New rear porch to fit neighborhood The addition will not be seen from Avenue but will be viewed from alley. The second dwelling unit (ADU) in back will abut and span over the existing garage. The original north and east walls of the garage will remain and the ADU will be set back from existing garage. The west wall (facing house) and south wall will be new and incorporate same materials as front house but with different expression – a cantilever balcony and blind arch transom are unlike the front house. Setbacks follow alley and Hyde Park standards.
