This home is currently being sold to a developer (MLS shows it as pending as of today) and they are the ones applying for the demo permit? Is a third party allowed to begin the permitting process before a sale is complete? I know that Historic Landmark has minimal tools to prevent demo since the only lever is to designate the property as historic, which this property seems to lack two of the qualifications. Architecturally, I would argue that it differs from many of the homes around it on 13th Street. I especially know that enacting historic against the wishes of the property owner is an uphill battle (one that we are currently waging for 907 13th), but I couldn't not write in to share my opinion. Throwing perfectly good homes into the trash also contradicts with Austin's "zero waste" initiative, but somehow the anti-global warming aspects don't seem taken into account in these cases.
