Additional Backup Information: This contract provides for the purchase of one complete, spare rotor assembly. Although Austin Energy is committed to using these units as little as possible, a spare rotor assembly will enable Austin Energy to increase reliability and availability during critical periods of peak power demand. The authorized repair facility for the Decker Creek Power Station, Pratt & Whitney FT4 generation units is in Massachusetts and the process to ship, repair and return a rotor takes minimally five months. Maintaining a fully assembled spare rotor will minimize repair downtime, maintain black-start capability, and strengthen reliability. WEG Electric Machinery is the original equipment manufacturer of the Pratt & Whitney FT4 and is the sole source of proprietary drawings, material specifications, dimensional tolerances, and design criteria required to manufacture the generator rotor assembly. Without this contract, Austin Energy would not have a spare rotor assembly on hand to respond quickly to a rotor failure.
