Additional Backup Information: This contract will provide Austin Energy with continued access to two critical fiber optic connections. The dedicated connections serve as the foundation for enterprise-wide systems, including telephony, internet access, and essential applications such as the Customer Care & Billing system and allow for redundancy in disaster recovery situations. The connections are vital to both internal operations and customer-facing services, and any disruption to this infrastructure would significantly impact billing processes, service reliability, compliance obligations, and customer experience. This two-year contract will ensure Austin Energy can rely on this infrastructure while concurrently preparing for a competitive solicitation. Without this contract, Austin Energy would lose connection to its off-site cloud systems, which support critical operations and services that directly affect customers.
