Compact centers and corridors allow daily necessities (such as work, shopping, dining, and school) to be located closer together, resulting in shorter, more convenient trips and less time spent on the road.  Related Citywide Initiatives and Plans  Project Connect  Equitable Transit-Oriented Development Policy Plan (2023)  Austin Strategic Mobility Plan (ASMP) (2019, Amended 2026)  Austin Core Transportation Plan (ACT) (2026)  City of Austin Bicycle Plan (2023) and Urban Trails Plan (2023) 13 Priority Program – Compact & Connected  Imagine Austin contains 45 Land Use and Transportation (LUT) Policies and 47 LUT Actions.  Example Policies (P) and Actions (A)  LUT P1 – Align land use and transportation planning and decision-making to achieve a compact and connected city in line with the Growth Concept Map.  LUT P3 – Promote development in compact centers, communities, or along corridors that are connected by roads and transit, are designed to encourage walking and bicycling, and reduce healthcare, housing, and transportation costs.  LUT A2 – Promote diverse infill housing such as small-scale apartments, smaller-lot single-family houses, town and row houses, and garage apartments that complement and enhance the character of existing neighborhoods.  LUT A13 – Create a system of high-capacity transit, including elements such as urban rail and bus rapid transit corresponding to land use mix and intensity.  LUT A16 – Enhance crosstown transit options to better connect people to the places where they live, work, play shop and access services. 14 Project Timeline 15 THANK YOU!
