The area around the venue on Lavaca and San Antonio Street had an influx of individuals selling inhalants to patrons after leaving the venue. The G900’s received the intelligence and request for assistance in the area and developed and deployed an operational plan. Surveillance and directed patrols were conducted. As a result, seven (7) subjects were arrested, two (2) handguns were seized, thirteen (13) nitrous oxide tanks were seized, and hundreds of balloons, which were used to deliver inhalants to individuals, were seized. Most of the individuals arrested were from out of town and appeared to have targeted the venue due to the artist and crowd. 23-80278 – RTA / Violation of Bond Cond. / Ghost gun seized / self-initiated Ofc. Smart observed a known, wanted subject running to a vehicle that was parked at 717 E. 7th St. The subject was detained from the vehicle and found to have a UCW warrant out of Travis County and an Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery warrant out of Williamson County. A search of the vehicle yielded a “Ghost gun” pistol which the subject admitted was his. Possessing a firearm was also a violation of his bond conditions. 23-3310069 – Poss. Prohib. Wpn. / Glock with auto switch / Self-initiated subject stop While patrolling in the 600 block of E. 6th St, Ofc. Johnson observed 5 males smoking marijuana next to a parked car and observed a clear jar on top of the vehicle that contained marijuana. All five subjects were detained and the vehicle was searched. The search yielded 1.8 ounces of marijuana and a Glock pistol with an attached Glock auto sear or “Glock switch.” This is a device that attaches to the rear of the slide and converts the pistol into a fully automatic pistol. One subject was arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (machine gun). Notable Arrests (2024) 24-310107 – DEADLY CONDUCT / UCW x 3 / FAIL TO ID – FUGITIVE The G900’s responded to the area of Pour Choices Bar at 401 E. 6th St. for a report of a man with a gun in the street. The first responding officer was directed by witness to a group of people walking away from the scene. Other officers were directed to the group and contact was made with them as they were entering a parked vehicle. They were all detained. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a pistol with an extended magazine and an AR- 15 pistol. One male was arrested for Deadly Conduct and UCW, another male was arrested for UCW x 3, and a female was arrested for Failure to Identify – Fugitive. The suspects were also believed to have been the antagonists in a disturbance the previous night at The Tipsy Alchemist on Rainey St. which involved the threat of a gun. 24-1190318 – UCW (3 GUNS SEIZED) / EVADING – FOOT / BRIBERY The G900’s responded to E. 7th St. / Sabine for a report of an LTS collision that had occurred, and the suspect driver was now trying to fight people and had a gun. When officers arrived on scene one of the males fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. A probable cause search of the suspect vehicle yielded an AR-15 pistol, a .22 caliber rifle, and a 5.7 caliber Ruger pistol. The male that fled from officers was charged with Evading – Foot. Another male that was involved in the incident was charged with UCW and Bribery after he offered favors for his release from custody while being transported to TCCB. 24-1680296 – SHOTS FIRED / AGGRAVATED ROBBERY SPO Perez was conducting a Directed Patrol at the Citgo at 717 E. 7th St. following bar close when he observed an occupant of a vehicle begin firing multiple rounds out of the window and then flee the scene SB on the west frontage. He gave chase and got the vehicle stopped near the Ihop at Cesar Chavez / N IH 35 SVRD SB. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted with the assistance of multiple other officers and all of the occupants were detained. While this was going on, other officers responded to the Citgo to look for possible victims. None were found but information was developed by SPO Mathis that led to the detention of 5 subjects that were still at the Citgo and were possibly involved in the disturbance. Four suspects were arrested and charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Robbery – DW each. Conclusion George Sector GEORGE/DTAC COMMAND: Commander Craig Smith Ops LT. Christopher Juusola Days LT.
