APPROVAL OF MINUTES – September 29, 2021 Motion by Chair Pitts to approve the minutes as amended; second by Commissioner Dasgupta; passed on a vote of 9-0.  Minor wording change would be CEO ACTION FOR RACIAL EQUITY,  Motion for the wording change as per Commissioner Apodaca. 2. NEW BUSINESS (Discussion and Possible Action) a. Digital Inclusion Week Art Competition – Jesse Rodriguez, Interim Program Manager, Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs (discussion and possible action) The announcement of the awards was postponed due to the lack of submissions. b. Commission discussion and action on its 2022 meeting schedule (Commission discussion and possible action) Motion to approve the commission 2022 schedule as presented made by Chair Pitts, second by Commission Apodaca passed on a vote of 9-0. Grant for Technology Opportunities Program 2022 Cycle - Jesse Rodriguez, Interim Program Manager, Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs (discussion and possible action) Motion to approve the changes for GTOPs 2022 as recommended by Jesse Rodriguez made by Chair Pitts, second by Commissioner Ramos passed on a vote of 9-0. Digital Equity and Inclusion Town Hall (Commission discussion and possible action) At the town hall, 11 community members presented their lived experience of the digital divide. Mission Capital, United Way, and the Housing Authority of the City of Austin helped facilitate this event and locate community members to present. 3. COMMISSION UPDATES (Discussion and Possible Action) a. Digital Inclusion, Civic Engagement, and Strategic Technology and Telecom Policy Working Group The focus of the last working group meeting was on the strategic outcomes and aligning objectives and highlighting the objectives that can be streamlined. Chair Pitts spoke to the success of Digital Inclusion Week 2021 and the pending Council digital inclusion week proclamation. b. Knowledge, Information, and Data Stewardship Working Group The focus of the last working group meeting was on the strategic outcomes and aligning objectives and highlighting the objectives that can be streamlined. Chair Pitts noted that Vice Chair David Alexander will be resigning in the near future. Next Working Group meeting discuss opportunities for streamlining take suggestions from Commission Gairo. c. Technology, Infrastructure, and Innovation Working Group The working group decided to combine some of the objectives, and all of the City’s Strategic Outcomes are now addressed. Work will continue at the next working group meeting. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS  New Chief Research, Strategic Officer to present either November or December meeting.  Rondella Hawkins would share a Legislative or FCC updates.  Digital Inclusion Fellow will present a year in review, her fellowship and role as a leader  Celebrating art poster, design submissions and announcing the winners with focus on digital inclusion.  Town Hall outcomes and analysis  Smart City trends, what has happened over the times of COVID  CEO Action for Racial Equity ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn made by Pitts, seconded by Commissioner Thompson Beavers passed on a vote of 9-0.
