CITIZEN COMMUNICATION: GENERAL The first ten speakers who register to speak no later than noon the day before the meeting will be allowed a three-minute allotment to address their concerns regarding items not posted on the agenda. Zenobia Joseph spoke on wi-fi connectivity at CapMetro bus stops. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – May 12, 20021 Motion to approve the May 12, 2021 meeting minutes made by commissioner Svirsky, seconded by Chair Pitts passed on a vote of 7-0 with Commissioners DasGupta and Ramos off the dias. 2. STAFF AND COMMUNITY BRIEFINGS (A member of the public may not address a board at a meeting on an item posted as a briefing) a. Written briefing to update on the Residential Technology Study (Office of Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs) The written briefing can be viewed here. 3. NEW BUSINESS (Discussion and Possible Action) a. Annual CTTC Work Plan (Commission Discussion and Possible Action) Chair Pitts gave a review of agenda items and budget items that the Commission has considered in the past fiscal year. The commission decided that the Commissioners should advocate with their Council Members for the Audit and Finance Committee of City Council to hear the item on remote participation at commission meetings. The staff liaison will reach out to the staff supporting this agenda item. The supporting document for this item can be viewed here. Motion in support of each Commission member reaching out to their Council member on the topic of remote participation at Commission Meetings made by Chair pitts, seconded by Commissioner Thompson, passed on a vote of 8-0 with Commissioner DasGupta off the dias. b. Budget Recommendation Review (Commission Discussion and Possible Action) The discussion on this item were combined with the previous item. 4. COMMISSION UPDATES (Discussion and Possible Action) a. Digital Inclusion, Civic Engagement, and Strategic Technology and Telecom Policy Working Group Chair Pitts noted that the items that the Digital Inclusion working group has been working on have largely been discussed earlier in the meeting. He is looking forward to future updates related to item 2a. b. Knowledge, Information, and Data Stewardship Working Group Vice Chair Alexander noted that the working group met with Austin Police Department on the Atlas One app. This is an app that issues push notifications on police incidents in a geographic location relevant to each user. He gave a summary of the discussion with APD, including how c. Technology, Infrastructure, and Innovation Working Group Commissioners DasGupta and Floyd noted that there was no monthly meeting for this group. Chair Pitts noted that a possible future effort for this working group could revolve around equitable broadband and equitable infrastructure. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Presentation from CapMetro for an update on wi-fi functionality, break-fix methods, project connect, and communications. Presentation from CTM to update on operations. Presentation from TARA on digital equity Discussion on remote participation at commission meetings.
