APPROVAL OF MINUTES – October 9, 2020 AND October 14, 2020 Motion to approve the October 9, 2020 meeting minutes made by Commissioner DasGupta and seconded by Commissioner Thompson passed on a vote of 6-0. Motion to approve the October 14, 2020 meeting minutes made by Commissioner Yeatts and seconded by Commissioner DasGupta passed on a vote of 6-0. 2. STAFF AND COMMUNITY BRIEFINGS (A member of the public may not address a board at a meeting on an item posted as a briefing) a. Good Systems – A UT Grand Challenge (Sara Smith, IT Business Systems Analyst) This presentation was postponed to the December agenda. b. Presentation on the City of Austin Information Security Office Projects (Shirley Erp – Chief Information Security Officer) Presentation by CISO Erp can be viewed here. c. Update on Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs (TARA) Legislative Summary (John Speirs, TARA) Presentation by Program Manager Speirs can be viewed here. 3. NEW BUSINESS (Discussion and Possible Action) a. The long reach of Artificial Intelligence (Commission Discussion and Action) After introductory discussion on data, privacy, and artificial intelligence, the Commission tabled this discussion with the intent to take this back for individual study. b. Remote participation at commission meetings (Commission Discussion and Action) Chair Pitts gave an overview of the Commission’s effort to enable remote participation at Commission meetings, from the pre-COVID-19 pilot to the current state of conversations with the Clerk’s Office to encourage ongoing possibility of remote participation. c. Review and adoption of the proposed 2021 commission Schedule (Commission Discussion and Action) Motion to approve the 2021 Commission schedule made by Chair Pitts and seconded by Commissioner DasGupta was approved as amended on a vote of 6-0. d. DECA Poster Competition Award Announcement (Commission discussion and Action; Nehemiah Pitts III, Chair Commissioner; Jesse Rodriguez, Business Process Specialist) The Chair announced the winners of the 2021 DECA Poster Competition. - 3rd Place: Kavya Gupta - 2nd Place: Ari Bernstein - 1st Place: Mira Patel e. Commission Special Report on Digital Equity (Commission Discussion and Action) Chair Pitts gave a summary of insights gathered from the October 9 Special Called Meeting on Digital Equity. The ideas of a digital equity scorecard for broadband providers was raised as a possibility. The full report can be viewed here. 4. COMMISSION UPDATES (Discussion and Possible Action) a. Digital Inclusion, Civic Engagement, and Strategic Technology and Telecom Policy Working Group This item was not reached due to loss of quorum. b. Knowledge, Information, and Data Stewardship Working Group This item was not reached due to loss of quorum. c. Technology, Infrastructure, and Innovation Working Group This item was not reached due to loss of quorum. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS This item was not reached due to loss of quorum.
