Austin-Travis County Food Plan ATCFPB September 2026 – Staff Update City of Austin Food Plan Updates City Staff Updates ● City staff sent City Council a Food Plan Update Memo on May 5th 2026. Next Memo in October. ● Funding from the MUFPP Award will be released via a RFA in fall 2026 ● ACAR has hired a new Food and Climate Program Coordinator - Mali Calvo ● Social Service contracts are being reviewed and finalized. Staff will report back in October. City Staff Updates Implementation Collab ● To be covered by WNT City of Austin 2026 Budget Next Steps ● Council approved the budget on August 12th ● Austin Public Health has sent a communication to all funded social services regarding their FY27 allocations. ● APH Chronic Disease has cut $400,000 in funding for ‘Fresh for Less’ in FY27, including contracts with Farmshare Austin, CTFB, and UT Public Health. ● During FY27, the City of Austin will conduct a Council-directed evaluation and redesign of its social services portfolio. As a part of this process, all agreements, regardless of their renewal date, will end on September 30, 2027. ● In the coming months, new solicitations will be issued for services to begin on October 1, 2027.
