AUSTIN-TRAVIS COUNTY FOOD POLICY BOARD MEETING MINUTES June 8, 2026 AUSTIN-TRAVIS COUNTY FOOD POLICY BOARD REGULAR MEETING MINUTES MONDAY, JUNE 8, 2026 The Austin-Travis County Food Policy Board (ATCFPB) convened on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the City of Austin Permitting and Development Center, 6310 Wilhelmina Delco Dr., Room 1406, Austin, TX 78752. Board Members in Attendance: Andrea Abel, Marissa Bell – Vice-Chair, Beth Corbett, Kacey Hanson, Seanna Marceaux, Melody McClary, Natalie Poulos Board Members Absent: Lisa Barden - Chair, Nitza Cuevas, Erin McDonald Staff in Attendance: Edwin Marty (City of Austin), Amanda Rohlich (City of Austin), Yaira Robinson (Travis County) CALL TO ORDER Marissa Bell called the meeting to order at 5:12 p.m. PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: GENERAL Neil APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Board Member Beth Corbett motioned to approve the meeting minutes from the Regular Meeting on May 11, 2026, with Natalie Poulos seconding the motion. Minutes passed on a 6-0-1 with Andrea Abel abstaining. STAFF BRIEFINGS 2. Staff briefing regarding Austin-Travis County Food Plan Implementation. Presentation by Edwin Marty, Food Policy Manager, Austin Climate Action & Resilience and Yaira Robinson, Assistant Director of Environmental Programs, Travis County and Kelly Nichols of Woollard Nichols and Torres (see back-up materials for presentation). DISCUSSION ITEMS 3. Presentation and discussion about labor within our food system and challenges with food workers, Good Work Austin, Kara Hanaoka (see back-up materials for presentation). Presentation and discussion around Fresh for Less and food access in Travis County, Farmshare Austin, Andrea Abel (see back-up materials for presentation). 4. AUSTIN-TRAVIS COUNTY FOOD POLICY BOARD MEETING MINUTES June 8, 2026 5. 6. 7. Presentation and discussion regarding the working group to expand access to nutritious foods through improvement to existing materials and resources and explore alternate or expanded hours for existing resources. No updates. Presentation and discussion regarding the working group to participate in the USDA Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) application for funding for conservation easements as a regional partnership. Marissa Bell provided an update. Review Board Member Assignments. a. Amanda Rohlich to share Summer Meals flyer and messaging from CTFB with Kelly Nichols who will share with Food Plan Collaborative b. Kelly Nichols to create a one pager including Food Plan Collaborative talking points with high level wins, Collaborative progress, and summary of proposed “early wins” projects for Board Members to take to elected officials c. Board Members to share quick wins document with elected officials d. Board Members to review advocacy assignments e. Kara Prior to follow up with demographic data of participants DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS 8. Discuss and take possible action on the Joint Sustainability Committee liaison appointment. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Capital Services Delivery Update on Food Forest and Remediation and Reimbursements to Food Forest for lost plantings Del-Valle Food Co-op Board Chair to present on progress Review and approve draft recommendation for Urban Ag Coordinator position Community Garden Coordinator Position – July Austin Government Relations – Grants Division ADJOURNMENT Marissa Bell adjourned the meeting at 6:33 p.m. Minutes were approved at the July 13, 2026 regular meeting on Board Member Kacey Hanson’s motion with Board Member Natalie Poulos seconding. Minutes passed on a 8-0 vote.
