These services are provided to in-care animals by staff veterinarians and by using contracts to fulfill this need in the community. Over the past five years, the City’s commitment to the spay and neuter program has been reflected by the growing number of spay and neuter surgeries that have been performed. 9 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES BY THE MONTH The budget increase Animal Services received for the FY2025 budget was utilized to secure a contract with a third-party vendor to perform free spay/neuters to pets owned by City of Austin and Travis County residents. Council approved a contract with Greater Good Charities on July 18, 2024.
