Incidents: Pets were a factor in 2 out of the 3 activities • o 1 incident involved a coyote growling at the caller o 1 incident involved two coyotes injuring a raccoon o 1 incident involved a coyote biting a residents dog on the leg January 2021 Animal Services Report • Encounters: Pets were a factor in all the activities o 1 encounter involved a coyote trying to injure an off-leash dog with people present o 2 encounters involved a coyote following a resident and dog Volunteer, Foster and Rescue Programs • A total of 51 volunteers donated 1,334 hours during January. Due to Stage 5 restrictions, volunteer shifts have been limited to dog walking, veterinary treatment and video/photography. • Volunteers provided support to a dog adoption event on Saturday, January 30 where 10 dogs were adopted. • A new volunteer workgroup called Chameleon Club was formed to showcase our pets via austinanimalcenter.org. The Club provides biography write ups, photos and videos for pet profiles, enticing potential adopters to fall in love with them! So far the Club has added 141 videos to YouTube, added 144 slideshows to profiles, updated 80 profile photos and added 62 bios. • More than 280 families provided foster care, and a total of 146 animals were adopted directly from foster care. • There are 890 approved fosters in GivePulse, and 136 new foster applications were processed. • There are currently 299 animals in foster homes. • 153 live outcomes were attributed to 23 AAC partners:  22 to Spay-Neuter-Return program with Austin Humane Society (AHS)  21 to Austin Pets Alive! (APA!), approximately 5 of which are neonatal kittens  2 to small partners o 45 cats o 91 dogs  35 to APA!  4 to AHS  52 to Small partners o 17 Other Species  3 roosters for housing  13 hamsters for housing  1 Bearded Dragon for housing • Large partner engagement and pulls continue to be down significantly in January compared to January 2020. Pulls decreased by 57 percent for APA! and 77 percent for AHS. January 2021 Animal Services Report Veterinary Services • Veterinarians addressed 100 emergency cases, performed six orthopedic surgeries and 19 other specialty surgeries including enucleations, amputations, mass removals, hernia repair, wound repairs and dentals. A total of 262 spay/neuter surgeries were performed and 493 vet exams.
