Erwin, Jr. Special Events Center Symphony Square Waterloo Greenway Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 4 Waterloo Greenway Naming Authority • The Joint Development Agreement (JDA) includes a provision on Naming Authority that grants the Conservancy the right to name parks, facilities, and features within the Greenway that are not already named, without waiving City Code requirements. • Proposed park features must be approved for naming by APR in accordance with Article 12 of the JDA • Once individual features are approved for naming, WGC must comply with requirements outlined in Article 12 of the JDA for naming rights • Director approval (for areas of the Greenway on Parkland) also follows APR process. Additional Naming Authority Request for the Confluence The Confluence: 1. The Creek Boardwalk: 800-foot-long, universally accessible boardwalk stitching together the Butler Trail and Rainey St. Historic District with Palm Park 2. The Bend: a seating area close to the water and near the natural bend in Waller Creek Naming Authority Request for Palm Park Donor Named Features 1. Durand Oak Lawn: Large lawn area near the historic Durand Oak 2. Big Kids Playground: Playground area for ages 5-12 including large play structures 3. Little Kids Playground: Playground area for younger kids with play structures 4. Community Gathering Plaza: A large, shaded deck next to the Shelter House 5. Misting Field: A water misting feature in the center of the park 6. Bird’s Nest and Bird Cage: Two structures in the playground for play and shade 7. Entry Portals (2): Unique local artist-designed entry portals into the playground 8. Small Gathering Lawns (2): Small lawns near the pavilion that will be used for gatherings and programs 9. Story Circle: A circle of stone seats in a lawn under a large shade tree 10. Artist Benches: Unique benches will be designed in collaboration with local artists Naming Authority Request for Palm Park Cont. Community Naming Program Per our agreement at the June 22, 2021 meeting, we are establishing a community naming program. Below are the three Palm Park features designated for this purpose: 11. Shade Pavilion: A new shade structure and community gathering space at the location of the former pool 12. Historic Stair and Altar: Preservation of the historic stair and new surrounding features that honor the history of the site 13.
