PROTECTION OF PUBLIC PARKS AND RECREATIONAL LANDS Sec. 26.001. PROTECTED LAND; NOTICE OF TAKING. (a) A department, agency, political subdivision, county, or municipality of this state may not approve any program or project that requires the use or taking of any public land designated and used prior to the arrangement of the program or project as a park, recreation area, scientific area, wildlife refuge, or historic site, unless the department, agency, political subdivision, county, or municipality, acting through its duly authorized governing body or officer, determines that: (1) there is no feasible and prudent alternative to the use or taking of such land; (2) the program or project includes all reasonable planning to minimize harm to the land, as a park, recreation area, scientific area, wildlife refuge, or historic site, resulting from the use or taking. - CONFIRMED - CONFIRMED Austin Water requests approval of Temporary Work Area (4,756 sq. ft.), for a period not to exceed a total of 150 Calendar Days on parking lot located at 1108 W Riverside Dr. Total Mitigation to be paid by Austin Water is $74,313. and 8 Minimize Impacts  The original design called for using the parking lot for 18 months, but we have worked to reduce it to 5 months, or 150 days, the minimum required for the HDD pipe installation  The area will be used for the staging and storing of drilling equipment during HDD  The project team is actively coordinating with Special Events, ensuring minimal impacts to planned events  Using the parking lot for staging minimizes the impact of HDD as mobilization time is reduced  Erosion and sedimentation control will be installed  The parking lot will be rehabilitated (paved and restriped) upon HDD completion 9 Timeline  Public meeting held August 21, 2025  Bid/Award Phase: Fall 2025 – Spring 2026  Construction Phase: Summer 2026 – Summer 2028 10 West Riverside Reclaimed Water Main Make a recommendation to the Director for approval of Temporary Work Area (4,756 sq. ft.), for a period not to exceed a total of 150 Calendar Days on parking lot located at 1108 W Riverside Dr. Total Mitigation to be paid by Austin Water is $74,313. 11 West Riverside Reclaimed Water Main Make a recommendation to the Director for approval of Temporary Work Area (4,756 sq. ft.), for a period not to exceed a total of 150 Calendar Days on parking lot located at 1108 W Riverside Dr. Total Mitigation to be paid by Austin Water is $74,313.
