MUSIC COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 6 April 2026 The Music Commission convened in a regular meeting on April 6, 2026, in Austin City Hall Chambers at 301 W 2nd St, Austin, TX 78701. Chair Medicharla called the Music Commission Meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Commissioners in Attendance: Chair Nagavalli Medicharla, Vice-Chair Pedro Carvalho, Parliamentarian Joe Silva, Clarissa Cardenas, Cornice Price, Penny Jo Pullus, Clayton England, Nelson Aguilar, Celeste Quesada CALL TO ORDER PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: GENERAL No public communication. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Approve the minutes of the Music Commission meeting on March 2, 2026. The minutes were approved on Commissioner Carvalho’s motion and a second by Commissioner Price with a 9-0 vote. STAFF BRIEFINGS 2. Staff briefing on Live Music Fund collections by Kim McCarson, Program Manager, Music & Entertainment , Austin Arts, Culture, Music & Entertainment (AACME). 3. Staff briefing on FY24 Austin Live Music Fund final reports by Erica Shamaly, Division Manager, Music & Entertainment Division, AACME. 4. Staff briefing on Austin-Bergstrom Airport (AUS) live music performances/booking by Erica Shamaly, Division Manager, Music & Entertainment Division, AACME. 5. Staff briefing on AACME funding programs by Laura Odegaard, Acting Division Manager, AACME. 6. Staff briefing on AACME-Long Center contract review by Morgan Messick, Assistant Director, AACME. DISCUSSION ITEMS 7. South by Southwest 2026 update by Dev Sherlock, Director, South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference, and Brian Hobbs Vice President, SXSW Music. 8. Presentation on new local label “Native Fiction Records” and coaching services by Jane Ellen Bryant, Owner & Recording Artist. 9. Music Commission engagement with council districts led by Chair Medicharla. 10. Downtown Commission update on priorities and recent actions by Parliamentarian Silva. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS 11. Music Commission Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Parliamentarian elections.
