Here are the details of the June 6th event, to plan your participation. We can’t wait to be juntos de nuevo- together again at the MACC! Austintexas.gov/macc/grand- reopening Arrival & Parking Address is 600 River Street, at the intersection of Rainey Street and River Street. There are multiple walk-in entrances, marked with red arrows The ESB MACC parking lot will be closed to the public from Thursday, June 4th to midnight on Saturday, June 6th. There is no public parking on-site for the Grand Reopening on June 6th. Parking is free in the Holly Street neighborhood. Parking is also available at downtown garages including the Austin Convention Center Parking Lot. There will be a free shuttle bus from the Sanchez Elementary and Metz Elementary to the ESB MACC and back from 10:30am-10:00pm. Please look for the "shuttle stop" signs at these locations. You can take the shuttle even if you don’t park in the actual school parking lots. Ridesharing and public transit encouraged. Drop off at the traffic circle. Bicycle parking is available on site. Bring your bike lock! The June 6th Reopening coincides with the reopening of the Waterloo Greenway Confluence. Park once, and attend both events! Founded in 1998, the group originated from the Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) mariachi ensemble. They have a standing weekend schedule performing live at Casa Maria Restaurant & Bakery in Kyle and Casa Garcias Restaurant. DJ Mira Mira (Xochi Solis) Mira Mira is the vinyl-spinning alias of Austin, TX artist Xochi Solis. Grounded in the diverse legacy of Tejano music, her sets move through conjunto, cumbia, psychedelic rock, Afro-Latin beats, funk, and soul— blending modern and vintage sounds from across the Americas. Each mix reflects her Borderlands upbringing and love for community storytelling through sound. When she's not behind the decks, Solis creates collaged paintings that explore color, texture, and shape through paint, paper, and found images from books and magazines. Ballet Folklorico of Austin Ballet Folklórico de Austin is a vibrant community dance organization founded in 2014 by Artistic Director Edgar Yepez-García. Their traditional performances bring colorful regional dances to Austin, especially the festive Guelaguetza from Oaxaca. The group performs all across the country and internationally. Many dancers are intergenerational- parents perform alongside their children, practicing together. They perform often at the MACC, Republic Square Park, & the Long Center. Fuzio Mariachi Fuzion is redefining the mariachi experience for a new generation. Founded in 2013 by Roger Martinez, Mariachi Fuzion has become one of Central Texas’ most versatile and energetic live entertainment groups. Known for their crowd interaction, powerful vocals, and dynamic stage presence, Mariachi Fuzion performs everything from timeless mariachi classics to modern Latin hits, country, cumbias, pop, and rock, all with the unmistakable essence of mariachi. Andrea Daniela Andrea Daniela is a dynamic singer, violinist, dancer, and actor who blends deep mariachi roots with a fearless, modern edge. Andrea’s album “Mariachi Mestiza y Mala Mujer” a bold fusion of mariachi, cumbia, pop, and hip-hop that celebrates culture, duality, womanhood, and self-made artistry. As the founder of Houston’s first all-female mariachi band and the creative force behind her own entertainment agency, AD Entertainment, she continues to redefine what mariachi means for the next generation. Los Fandangueros de Austin Los Fandangueros de Austin is a vibrant local music and arts collective dedicated to Son Jarocho, a traditional folk music style from Veracruz, Mexico. Founded in 2023, the group brings together local “soneros”, or traditional musicians and dancers, to weave this rich musical heritage into Austin's cultural fabric by performing at local festivals and events. They foster community in Austin by hosting free jarana (a traditional 8- string guitar) and zapateado (foot percussion) workshops. La Moña Loca La Moña Loca is an 11-piece Latin orchestra based in Austin, Texas, recognized as one of the city's premier salsa bands. They perform a vibrant mix of danceable Latin music, including salsa, timba, cha-cha, merengue, & cumbia. They play Cuban son, a type of music that originated even before salsa music. They have been featured artists at Ruta Maya, Central Market, Pedro’s Place, & One2one. Ballet Folklorico Maricruz Ballet Folklorico MariCruz was established in Austin in 2001. Based in East Austin, they practice at the Pan American Recreation Center. Dedicated to preserving and celebrating traditional Mexican cultural heritage through dance, director and choreographer Maria Ramirez teaches dancers ranging from 6 to 19 years old. They compete in events like Bailes de Mi Tierra and performing at local festivals and community gatherings, including Cinco de Mayo and Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations. Los Sabrosos de La Cumbia Los Sabrosos de la Cumbia (also known as Brayan y los Sabrosos de la Cumbia) are a high-energy cumbia ensemble famous in the Latin music scene. Known for their contagious rhythms and dynamic live shows, the band is a highly requested act in Texas and throughout the Latin music touring circuit.They have gained popularity for bringing a lively, dance- heavy atmosphere to venues and events, blending traditional Colombian and Mexican cumbia influences. Danza Azteca Guadalupana Danza Azteca Guadalupana was founded in 2011 by the Flores Family with the purpose of preserving & sharing the ancestral traditions of the Mexica people through ceremonial dance. They promote pride in indigenous roots by participating in religious celebrations, community events, and educational programs. They are always a favorite at the MACC, closing out the evening with ceremonial dance that unites community through their indigenous dances. Academia Cuauhtli is hosting a bilingual camp with emphasis on Mesoamerican culture, movement, and math. The two-week session is for 4-8th graders. Dates are June 15-25.
