PROGRAM CONTINUATION DURING PHASE 2 Presented By : Michelle Rojas Page 01 SITE CLOSURE UPDATES The MACC Campus will close to the public on December 18, 2022. Last day to accept new rentals and COA Reservations – July 15. Last date for collaborations November 30, 2022. Last day for program activities – Sunday, December 18. Page 02 PROGRAM CONTINUATION GOALS The ESB MACC is committed to the continuation of programs during the Phase 2 closures. We see the closure as an opportunity to extend programs to areas of the City where cultural programs are scarce. The goals are to continue providing signature events and programs at locations such as recreation centers and libraries and to keep the existing staff working on MACC related programs. Page 03 CONTINUOUS CONVERSATIONS Beginning in October 2021, these are some of the conversations and items completed October 2021 sent communication to all LAAP artists to apply to the Artist Access Program (AAP) to secure rehearsal and performance space for 2023. Application Open October 15 to December 22, 2021 Reminded all LAAP artists during in person meetings and emails at least 6 more times. 6 of the LAAP Artists apply and are accepted to the program LAAP artists that did not apply were informed that they would have assistance securing contract class contracts with sites like Recreation Centers. Page 03 PHASE 2 EXHIBIT February 2022 Phase 2 MACC Exhibit discussions between staff and Phase 2 working group March 2022 Phase 2 Digital Exhibit and In Person Physical Exhibit completed Exhibits included Programming Surveys for 2023 to 2024 as well as post 2024 and Beyond Phase 2 Exhibit displayed from March 9 to March 31 in Coronado Gallery during SXSW and the MACCnifico! event. PROGRAMMING 2022-2024 During the approximately 2 years that the MACC will be under construction, programming will be conducted off-site. The MACC staff is excited to bring programs into the community, directly to YOU! Fill out the link below to request programming at your school, community center, or other gathering space! Where would you like a MACC program? PROGRAMMING POST-2024 We want to hear from you! When the newly expanded MACC building opens to the public, what programs do you want to see? When the MACC reopens, there will be new spaces and expanded spaces, so tell us what kind of events, classes, and other opportunities you would like to see! Page 03 CONTINUING CONVERSATIONS May 2022 ESB MACC Manager shared with Division Managers of Recreation Centers and Senior Centers that the MACC would be closing and would be reaching out to potentially have programs at their site. June 2022 Reached out to Academia Cuauhtli to see what their needs would be when the MACC closed. July 6 Reached out to Austin Public Library Office of Programs and Partnerships for future exhibit space July 7 Staff meeting held to review 2023 program planning documents to use in space planning meetings. July 14 Met with Stephanie Bergara and Donald Miller from Waterloo Greenway to discuss and reserve dates for future programs. Reserved date in April 2023 for potential La Mujer event at Waterloo Greenway July 18 communication with Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin about program and space needs. Page 03 CONTINUING CONVERSATIONS LAAP July 21 attended LAAP Happy Hour with 7 members in attendance. Manager informed LAAP artists that LAAP contract would end December 2022. Informed LAAP artists that our goal was to continue to support them through partnerships and collaborations. LAAP artists decided to form their own organization for possible future fundraising LAAP artists were informed that they could become contract instructors and other PARD locations. LAAP artists were asked how the MACC could support them and the most common response was by providing funding for facility rental fees. LAAP artists were informed that they would not be able to apply for the 2025 LAAP contract but would be eligible in 2026. Page 03 CONTINUING CONVERSATIONS July 20 Officially launched MACC Closure campaign. Added FAQ Section to main MACC Webpage Created email campaign to go out to collaborative partners to initiate the conversation of what their needs were. July 25 Created draft Program Catalog with descriptions and needs of MACC activities to share with potential site locations. Created email template to accompany program catalog. July newsletter to 8000+ subscribers informing them of closures Page 03 CONTINUING CONVERSATIONS July 27 Discussed with Mueseums and Cultural Program Site Managers location for temporary MACC "office" Discussed with AARC Site Manger to explore ways to create spaces for program and staff at AARC. Plans underway to secure locations for MACC permanent employees to have access to office space for in person meetings and for program prep. Page 03 CONTINUING CONVERSATIONS Secured the DAC as the MACC's temporary home office. Admin Specialist will be stationed on site. Same phone number (512)974-3772 will be operational. Secured locations for FTE at sister cultural facilities.
