Commissioner Morris joined the meeting at 6:04 p.m., Commissioner Le joined at 6:14 p.m. and Commissioner Lands joined at 6:33 p.m. CALL TO ORDER CITIZEN COMMUNICATION: GENERAL The first three speakers who register to speak no later than noon the day before the meeting will be allowed a three-minute allotment to address their concerns regarding items not posted on the agenda. Peck Young addressed the ICRC and opted to withhold comment at the public meeting 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Discussion and possible action on the Aug. 4, 2021, ICRC meeting minutes. The August 4, 2021, meeting minutes were approved without objection. 2. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The ICRC may discuss and take action on the following agenda items A. Update from Public Forum Working Group on calendar changes Vice Chair Gonzalez gave update about upcoming public forums and new county precinct forums. 3. NEW BUSINESS The ICRC may discuss and take action on the following agenda items A. Presentation from AISD AISD's Jacob Reach, Chief of Government Relations and Board Services; Beth Wilson, Executive Director of Planning and Asset Management, and Geronimo Rodriguez, Board of Trustee President (D6) presented campus and trustee maps and gave a timeline of their school redistricting. B. Update from Communications Working Group Commissioner Dempsey gave update about website, RFP sent out for PR firms, efforts to push interactive map, and Chair Puentes mentioned ICRC interviews/stories aired on FOX 7 and KOOP 91.7. C. Update from Finance Subcommittee Commissioner Morris gave update about additional Zoom expense and reminder about getting all invoices in by end of fiscal year. D. Update from Final Report Subcommittee Nothing to report. E. Housekeeping Chair Puentes gave update on administrative manager's city email and signup form for commissioners to meet one-on-one with Korbel before he draws up first version of a map. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS • • • • Invitation to Lila Valencia, Austin City Demographer to speak about Census data Invitation to City transportation department to speak to commission Invitation to City Watershed Protection Department to speak to commission about boundaries Aug. 18 or Aug. 25 meeting Invitation to someone who can talk about neighborhood associations and how they factor into political process • Addition of Lynn Carter, Austin city attorney or someone from the office, to discuss open records • Signup form with Korbel • Discussion on the mapping process • Updates from Working Groups/Subcommittees ADJOURNMENT Chair Puentes adjourned the meeting at 7:21 p.m. without objection.
