COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (CDC) March 8, 2022 – 6:30pm Austin City Hall, Board and Commission- Room 1101 301 West 2nd Street, Austin, TX 78701 Some members of the Community Development Commission may be participating by video conference. The meeting may be viewed online at: http://www.austintexas.gov/page/watch-atxn-live. Public comment will be allowed in-person or remotely by telephone. Speakers may only register to speak on an item once, either in-person or remotely, and will be allowed up to three minutes to provide their comments. Commissioners Deshotel, Sepeda and Tolliver were absent. PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: GENERAL The first 10 speakers signed up prior to the meeting being called to order will each be allowed a three minute allotment to address their concerns regarding items not posted on the agenda. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Discussion and possible action on the February 8, 2022, Community Development Commission meeting minutes On Vice Chair Paup’s motion, Commissioner Delgado’s second, the February 8, 2022 minutes were approved unanimously. 2. COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT (CSBG) Briefing and discussion on the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) (Angel Zambrano, Manager, Neighborhood Services Unit, Austin Public Health) Angel Zambrano gave the presentation. The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the American with Disabilities Act. Reasonable modifications and equal access to communications will be provided upon request. Meeting locations are planned with wheelchair access. NEW BUSINESS a) Presentation on Climate Equity Plan (Zach Baumer, Office of Sustainability) Zach Baumer gave the presentation. b) Discussion and possible action on two CDC appointments to the Housing Investment Review Committee (HIRC) (Chair Motwani and James May, Housing and Planning Department) On Chair Motwani’s motion, Commissioner Elias’s second, Commissioners Fadelu and Garrett were appointed unanimously to serve on the Housing Investment Review Committee. c) Discussion and possible action regarding budget recommendations from the CDC Budget Working Group (Commissioners Garrett and Elias and Chair Motwani) On Vice Chair Paup’s motion, Commissioner Thompson’s second, the CDC voted unanimously to authorize the Budget Working Group to finalize and make budget recommendations to Council on the CDC’s behalf, based on the suggestions discussed and agreed upon. d) Nomination and selection of CDC representative to the Joint Sustainability Committee On Chair Motwani’s motion, Commissioner Woods’ second, the CDC unanimously elected Commissioner Fadelu to serve as the CDC’s representative on the Joint Sustainability Committee. 4. WORKING GROUP AND COMMITTEE REPORTS a) Update from the Joint Sustainability Committee (Commissioner Fadelu) b) Update from the Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) Community Advisory Committee This item was postponed to a future meeting.
