MEMORANDUMTO:MayorandCouncilMembersTHROUGH:VeronicaBriseño,AssistantCityManagerFROM:TamelaSaldaña,ActingDirector,OfficeofCivilRightsDATE:January11,2023SUBJECT:VeteransServicesCoordinatorPosition(FY23RenteriaBudgetRider1)ThepurposeofthismemorandumistoprovideanupdateontherequesttofundandcreateatVeteransServicesCoordinatorposition.TheOfficeofCivilRightshasmadetherequesttotheHumanResourcesDepartmenttoreclassifythevacantProgramComplianceConsultant(PCN118449)toaVeteransServicesAdministratorposition.ThispositionwillreportdirectlytotheCivilRightsAdministratorwhoreportsdirectlytotheDirector.TheVeteransServicesAdministratorwillprovideoversight,administration,andcoordinationofactivitiesrelatedtoVeteransPrograms.Specifically,theAdministratorwillberesponsibleforsupportingexternalcitywideveterans’initiatives,programs,andservices.Dutiesincludeeducatingstakeholders,overseeingcompliancewithlocal,state,andfederallegislationrelatedtoVeteranservicesandactivitiesinAustin,andwillcollaboratewithinternalandexternalstakeholderstoensureprogramobjectivesaremetanddelivered.Additionally,thepositionwillalsoberesponsiblefortheassociateddevelopmentandadministrationofeducationalandtrainingprograms.Thepositionistargetedforpostingthisweekandtoonboardbytheendofthefirstquarter2023.Ifyouhaveadditionalquestions,pleasecontactmeatTamela.Saldana@austintexas.gov.cc:SpencerCronk,CityManager
