Public comment will be allowed in-person or remotely via telephone. Speakers may only register to speak on an item once either in-person or remotely and will be allowed up to three minutes to provide their comments. Presentation and discussion by Dr. Lindsey Wilson, Director of Austin Equity and Inclusion (AEI) and Shafina Khaki, Human Rights Officer, AEI on the Human Rights Impact Review and the mitigations our stakeholders co-created and have prioritized for our City’s Human Rights Framework. Introduction of new commissioners, Amber Cress and Neal Wendt. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS 4. 5. Discussion and vote on Commission on Veterans Affairs Annual Report. Discussion and vote on primary and alternate to represent the Commission on Veterans Affairs at the Joint Inclusion Committee Commission Meeting. COMMISSION ON VETERAN AFFAIRS REGULAR MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, July 15, 2026 The COMMISSION ON VETERANS’ AFFAIRS convened in a REGULAR Meeting on WEDNESDAY, July 15, 2026, at the City of Austin Permitting & Development Center at 6310 Wilhelmina Delco Dr, Austin, TX 78752. Chair Michael Mcinerney called the COMMISSION ON VETERANS AFFAIRS MEETING to order at 7:00 pm CST. Commissioners in Attendance: Michael Mcinerney (Chair) Jose Reyes (Vice Chair) Commissioners in Attendance Remotely: Amber Cress Fansu Ku Lucas Castillo Armando Gonzales Commissioners Absent: Bryce Laake-Stanfield William Dahlstrom Christopher Wilson Neal Wendt Anita Roberts Sta(cid:431) in Attendance: Jesus Simental – Veterans Administrator, City of Austin Department O(cid:431)ice of Equity and Inclusion PUBLIC COMMUNICATION GENERAL APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. The minutes from the meeting on 6/17/2026 were approved on Chair Michael Mcinerney motion, seconded by Jose Reyes, on a 6-0 vote. Commissioner Bryce Laake-Stanfield, Anita Roberts, Neal Wendt, Christopher Wilson, and William Dahlstrom were not present. DISCUSSION ITEMS 2. Presentation and discussion by D Shafina Khaki, Human Rights Officer, AEI on the Human Rights Impact Review and the mitigations our stakeholders co-created and have prioritized for our City’s Human Rights Framework. Shafina Khaki discussed Austin's Human Rights Impact Review results from the study and the mitigations co-created by the stakeholders. 3. Commissioner Amber Cress introduced herself and discussed her background and reasons behind joining the Commission on Veterans Affairs. Commissioner was absent for this meeting so did not introduce himself. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS 4. Discussed and voted on Commission on Veterans A(cid:431)airs Annual Report, it was approved on a 6-0 vote. 5. Discussion and vote on primary and alternate to represent the Commission on Veterans A(cid:431)airs at the Joint Inclusion Committee Commission Meeting was postponed to the August meeting. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ADJOURNMENT END: 7:46 PM 6. Chair Michael Mcinerney made the motion to adjourn the meeting second by Jose Reyes on a 6-0 vote. The minutes were approved at the 19 Aug 2026 meeting by Commissioner Armando Gonzales motion, Jose Reyes second on a 7-0 vote, Bryce Laake-Stanfield, Christopher Wilson, William Dahlstrom and Neal Wendt were absent.
