Commission on Immigrant Affairs Meeting Tuesday, July 6, 2021 Commission on Immigrant Affairs to be held July 6, 2021 with Social Distancing Modifications Public comment will be allowed via telephone; no in-person input will be allowed. All speakers must register in advance (July 5, 2021 by noon). All public comment will occur at the beginning of the meeting. To speak remotely at the July 6, 2021 Commission on Immigrant Affairs Meeting, members of the public must: •Call or email the board liaison at 512-972-5117 or sinying.chan@austintexas.gov no later than noon, July 5, 2021. The following information is required: speaker name, item number(s) they wish to speak on, whether they are for/against/neutral, email address and telephone number (must be the same number that will be used to call into the meeting). •Once a request to speak has been made to the board liaison, the information to call on the day of the scheduled meeting will be provided either by email or phone call. •Speakers must call in at least 15 minutes prior to meeting start time in order to speak, late callers will not be accepted and will not be able to speak. •Speakers will be placed in a queue until their time to speak. •Handouts or other information may be emailed to sinying.chan@austintexas.gov by noon the day before the scheduled meeting. Interim Chief of Police, Joseph Chacon, Sadot Azzua, Austin Police Department (APD) Neighborhood Liaison, and other members of APD to discuss: (1) U-Visa Numbers and Policy, (2) Freedom Cities Resolutions Reports, and (3) new APD initiatives and policies B. Faisal Al-Juburi, RAICES, history in Austin and anticipated scope of work Faisal was having technical difficulties and trying to reconnect; Kate moved to move Faisal to the bottom of New Business to let him reconnect; Adrian seconded; all in favor Presenter was not able to present due to technical difficulties C. Update from Rocio Villalobos on her work with the Equity Office Two naturalization ceremonies will be happening in July at the Twin Oaks Branch Library; with library card and voter registrations and COVID-19 vaccine administration Immigrant Integration Mini Grant will be launched tomorrow on 7/7/21 Talks and meetings on enhanced library cards are still going on; still need to follow up with City Legal D. Vote on a representative to attend Austin Public Health Asian Pacific Islander Task Force meetings Adrian moved to have Rennison be the representative; Kate seconded; all in favor E.
