The project added a vehicle bay for a 2nd ambulance and expanded the living quarters to house a supervisor and personnel for the 2nd ambulance. In addition, upgrades were made to meet current ADA and fire code requirements and provide adequate bathrooms for gender equality. The project is targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification. In addition to addressing the structural issues, the renovation expanded the size of the facility and added two vehicle bays to ensure the ability to meet an increasing call volume. Upgrades address current ADA and fire code requirements and provide adequate bathrooms for gender equality. The project is targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification. The project also allows for general upgrade and redesign to provide better functionality and conditions for personnel. Upgrades meet current ADA and fire code requirements. The project is targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification. The upgrades address current ADA and fire code requirements and provide adequate bathrooms for gender equality. The project is targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification. City of Austin | Capital Delivery Services Department | One City, One Team, One Approach 15 CENTRAL FIRE STATION 1 / EMS 6 CURRENT STATUS SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION -JULY 26, 2024 RENOVATION SIZE ORIGINAL BUILDING AREA: 11,228 SF TOTAL RENOVATED STATION AREA: 12,455 SF SCOPE AND JUSTIFICATION FOR RENOVATION Urgent repairs to failing electrical systems and structure required a full update for all building systems to meet applicable code, safety, and accessibility standards. The project is targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification. RENOVATION SIZE ORIGINAL BUILDING AREA: 5,845 SF TOTAL RENOVATED STATION AREA: 2,294 SF SCOPE AND JUSTIFICATION FOR RENOVATION Existing Bay of Fire Station #3 was unable to support the weight of the Fire Engines due to the structural instability of the apparatus bay. The engines were at risk of weather, vandalism, and theft. New flood plain maps located a significant portion of the station in the flood plain. Building Sustainability certification was not an option due to the limited project scope. City of Austin | Capital Delivery Services Department | One City, One Team, One Approach 17 FIRE STATION 22 / EMS 12 REBUILD CURRENT STATUS SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION - jULY 18, 2024 RENOVATION SIZE ORIGINAL BUILDING AREA: 6,021 SF TOTAL REBUILT STATION AREA: 11,048 SF SCOPE AND JUSTIFICATION FOR RENOVATION Due to structural failure as identified through forensic building analysis and overall condition of building, this station was declared a complete demolition project and was rebuilt as a newly constructed building adhering additionally to current Fire & EMS Standards. The project is targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification.
