Governance/Membership and Care Strategies Committee Meeting of the HIV Planning Council TUESDAY, March 1, 2022 Governance/Membership Committee Meeting to be held March 1, 2022, with Social Distancing Modifications Public comment will be allowed via telephone; no in-person input will be allowed. All speakers must register in advance (2/28/2022 by noon). All public comment will occur at the beginning of the meeting. To speak remotely at the March 1, 2022, HIV Planning Council Meeting, members of the public must: •Call or email the board liaison at (512) 972-5806 and Jaseudia.Killion@austintexas.gov no later than noon, (the day before the meeting). The information required is the speaker’s name, item number(s) they wish to speak on, whether they are for/against/neutral, and a telephone number or email address. •Once a request to speak has been called in or emailed to the board liaison, residents will receive either an email or phone call providing the telephone number to call on the day of the scheduled meeting. •Speakers must call in at least 15 minutes prior to meeting start in order to speak, late callers will not be accepted and will not be able to speak. •Speakers will be placed in a queue until their time to speak. •Handouts or other information may be emailed to Jaseudia.Killion@austintexas.gov by Noon the day before the scheduled meeting. Recruitment and Retention of Members a. Consumer Advisory Boards  Looking at existing advisory boards from other agencies, creating an advisory board from Women Rising  Trying to find someone from state to apply  We have some consumers, but less than required 33%  Looking at HHSC, DSHS, UT  Will ask the Syndicate  Recently incarcerated also needed b. Planning Council Calendar Review i. Social Media Calendar o Can use HIV.gov graphics for our Facebook posts o Would like to have Instagram  Other possibilities – Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Discord  Brooks would like to take over building social media platform o Can make budget recommendations for social media allocation  Look at cost analysis  Look at what other committees have done and their results  Look at getting required permissions from City of Austin o Vote to approve calendar  Brooks motions to approve calendar as is  Glenn seconds motion a. Membership Spotlight  Tarik last spotlight  Plan to do all three executives – start with Caitlin • Either March or April  Need to look into creating a graphic/find graphic designer  Add to social media calendar • Create list of who hasn’t been spotlighted yet o Look into HIV.gov suggestions for how to promote events o Pre-loading posts and using ads help with responses o Should prioritize underserved groups with little data, especially trans community o March 31st is International Transgender Day of Visibility o Gather more suggestions from council members c. STAR Awards Update • 12 nominations total, but only 4 community • Need to repost survey – Irvine will repost • Ask APH to post on main page • Look into APH letter sign 6. CARE STRATEGIES a.
