ART IN PUBLIC PLACES PANEL Special Called Meeting Minutes The Art in Public Places Panel convened a special called meeting on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, virtual special called meeting. Chari Kristi-Anne Shaer called the meeting to order at 4:08 PM. Panel Members in Attendance: Kristi-Anne Shaer – Chair, Vice Chair – Lindsey Millikan, Heidi Schmalbach – Arts Commission Liaison, Fatima Carbajal, Andrew Danziger and Camille Jobe. Deaccession Jury Panel Member: Debora Rodrigues, Principal Conservator and Collections Care Specialist. Panel Members Absent: Bernardo Diaz. Staff in Attendance: AIPP Manager: Jaime Castillo; AIPP Coordinator Senior: Rebecca Rende and Sean Harrison; ACME Division Manager, Melissa Alvarado, and ACME Assistant Director: Morgan Messick. PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: GENERAL Chair Kristi-Anne Shaer made a motion to extend public communication to five minutes. Arts Commissioner Heidi Schamlbach seconded. Motion passes 7-0. • Jason Bregman spoke on behalf of Singer Studio Foundation about Item 4, Deaccession Jury of Art in Public Places artwork Uplifted Ground, by Michael Singer Studio at Austin- Bergstrom International Airport. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. The minutes of the Art in Public Places Panel Regular meeting on October 5, 2026. Chair Kristi-Anne Shaer made a motion to move approval of the Art in Public Places Regular Panel Meeting on Monday, October 5, 2026, to the Art in Public Places Regular Panel Meeting on Monday, November 2, 2026, Arts Commissioner Heidi Schmalbach seconded. Motion passes 7-0. STAFF BRIEFINGS 2. Staff briefing regarding Art in Public Places Program, including Conservation, Current Projects and Milestones. Presentation by Jaime Castillo, Art in Public Places Manager, Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment. DISCUSSION ITEMS DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS 3. 4. Approve a recommendation to the Arts Commission as the Deaccession Jury of Art in Public Places artwork Leaf, Pod & Samara by John Christensen at Austin- Bergstrom International Airport. Deaccession Jury includes guest conservator per Arts Commission. Camille Jobe made a motion to continue discussion at the Art in Public Places Panel Regular Meeting on November 2, 2026. Fatima Carbajal seconded. Motion passes 5- 0. Approve a recommendation to the Arts Commission as the Deaccession Jury of Art in Public Places artwork Uplifted Ground by Michael Singer Studios at Austin- Bergstrom International Airport. Deaccession Jury includes guest conservator per Arts Commission. Camille Jobe made a motion to continue discussion at the Art in Public Places Panel Regular Meeting on November 2, 2026. Fatima Carbajal seconded. Motion passes 5- 0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding updates to the Art in Public Places Ordinance, Guidelines and Policies per City Council Resolution No. 20250306- 029. No action taken. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ADJOURNMENT Meeting ended at 6:00 PM due to lack of quorum. The minutes were approved at the November 2, 2026 meeting on Chair Kristi-Anne Shaer’s motion, Panel Member Camille Jobe second on a 6-0 vote. Bernie Diaz abstained.
