ART IN PUBLIC PLACES PANEL Regular Meeting Minutes The Art in Public Places Panel convened a regular meeting on Monday, October 5, 2026, virtual regular meeting. Chari Kristi-Anne Shaer called the meeting to order at 6:01 PM. Panel Members in Attendance: Kristi-Anne Shaer – Chair, Vice Chair – Lindsey Millikan, Bernardo Diaz, and Andrew Danziger. Panel Members Absent: Heidi Schmalbach – Arts Commission Liaison, Fatima Carbajal and Camille Jobe. Staff in Attendance: AIPP Manager: Jaime Castillo; AIPP Coordinator Senior: Rebecca Rende and Alex Irrera; ACME Division Manager, Melissa Alvarado, and ACME Assistant Director: Morgan Messick. PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: GENERAL None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. The minutes of the Art in Public Places Panel Regular meeting on September 14, 2026. Andrew Danziger made a motion to approve of the minutes from Art in Public Places Regular Panel Meeting on Monday, September 14, 2026, Bernardo Diaz seconded. Motion passes 4-0. STAFF BRIEFINGS 2. Staff briefing regarding Art in Public Places Program, including Conservation, Current Projects and Milestones. Presentation by Jaime Castillo, Art in Public Places Manager, Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment. DISCUSSION ITEMS 3. Discussion of Arts Commission Liaison Report on Action Items from September 21, 2026, Arts Commission Meeting. Presentation by Heidi Schmalbach, Arts Commission Liaison. Andrew Danziger made a motion to move Item 7: Art in Public Places Panel Guidelines and Associated Polices Working Group report and possible action and Item 8: Approve a recommendation regarding updates to the Art in Public Places Guidelines and Policies per City Council Resolution No. 20250306-029. Presentation by Jaime Castillo, AIPP Manager, Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment before Item 4: Discussion of the Austin- Bergstrom Final Design Update. Presentation by Alex Irrera, Art in Public Places Coordinator Senior, Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment. Bernie Diaz seconded. Motion passes 4-0. Airport Art in Public International Projects Places 50% 4. Discussion of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Art in Public Places Projects 50% Final Design Update. Chair Kristi-Anne Shaer made a motion to approve the Northeast Service Center: Suspended 3D Art in Public Places Artist Selection. Andrew Danziger seconded. Motion passes 4-0. Approve a recommendation to Arts Commission for the Northeast Service Center: Cistern Murals Art Call. Presentation by Rebecca Rende, Art in Public Places Coordinator Senior, Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment. Chair Kristi-Anne Shaer made a motion to approve the Northeast Service Center: Cistern Murals Art Call. Andrew Danziger seconded. Motion passes 4-0. Art in Public Places Panel Guidelines and Associated Polices Working Group report and possible action. No action taken. Approve a recommendation regarding updates to the Art in Public Places Guidelines and Policies per City Council Resolution No. 20250306-029. Presentation by Jaime Castillo, AIPP Manager, Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment. No action taken. 9. Action schedule a Special Called Art in Public Places Panel meeting to conduct a Deaccession Jury to review Art in Public Places artworks Leaf, Pod & Samara by John Chirstensen and Uplifted Ground by Michael Singer Studios at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Presentation by Jaime Castillo, Art in Public Places Manager, Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment. Chair Kristi-Anne Shaer made a motion to tentatively schedule a Special Called Art in Public Places Panel meeting on October 14, 2026, to conduct the Deaccession Jury to review Art in Public Places artworks Leaf, Pod & Samara by John Chirstensen and Uplifted Ground by Michael Singer Studios at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport; and a staff update on City Council Resolution No. 20250306-029 response scheduled for October 22, 2026, including updated Art in Public Places Guidelines and Policies. Bernie Diaz seconded. Motion passes 4-0. 10. Approve Art in Public Places Panel 2027 Schedule. Andrew Danziger made a motion to approve the Art in Public Places Panel 2027 schedule with a change to move the Art in Public Places Panel January meeting to January 11, 2027 and consider conducting in-person meetings at ACME Cultural Facilities. Bernie Diaz seconded. Motion passes 4-0. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ADJOURNMENT Kristi-Anne Shaer adjourned the Meeting at 7:53 PM. The minutes were approved at the November 2, 2026 meeting on Vice Chair Lindsey Millikan’s motion, Panel Member Chair Kristi-Anne Shaer second on a 5-0 vote. Fatima Carbajal and Camille Jobe abstained.
