Project Goals: • Expand the roadway to two lanes in each direction, adding a center median with left-turn bays • Create a shared-use path on both sides of the road for pedestrians and bicyclists, and stormwater quality and detention facilities. Construction Timeline: • Work began Dec. 2023 • Substantial Completion: EOY 2026 3 Spicewood Springs AIPP Project Overview Project Overview: • Create a site-specific artwork that enhances the community’s experience of the Spicewood Springs Road corridor. Project Goals: • Respect wildlife and integrate with the natural beauty of the corridor; • Be safe to people and animals, easily maintained, and vandal-resistant in an exterior environment. • Align with the character of the community and human history of the site. Timeline: • Fabrication: Summer - Fall 2026 • Installation: EOY 2026 TBD 4 Spicewood Springs Corridor – Scope of Work Scope of Work: • Engage with community to understand the important values and desires to reflect in the artwork. • Design a sculpture that honors the natural landscape and the local community. • Fabricate and Install the sculptures onsite in accordance with the ongoing site construction. Site reviewed extensively for safety and required 5’ clearance on all sides of the artwork. The artwork will be installed within the “limits of construction” of Area #5. 8 Final Design: Site Plan The yellow area within the median is the Limit of Construction for the Art in Public Places project. 9 Inspiration Narrative / Description: The goal of this design is to: • Integrate the diversity of the natural environment with the joyful, family-centric spirit of the local neighborhoods. • Reflect how we experience and remember the chaos of our surroundings as a tapestry of overlapping images. • Continue my comparison of structures in nature to machine-age design & movements. • Reflect these concepts through the complexity of my sculptures. 10 Final Design: Visuals The Things I’ve Seen Today Consists of three elements: • • • • “ARCHING LANDSCAPES”, the central sculpture, consists of overlapping and perforated aluminum plate panels with images flora and fauna. “TRIBRID #1, Insect” one of two side sculptures, is a fusion of three whimsical bugs. “TRIBRID #2”, Succulent” the second of two side sculptures is a fusion of 3 arid plants.
