Recommended Artist Ross Road – Ion Art “Ion Art's approach considered the entire stretch of road, paying special consideration to how multi-modal forms of transit would experience the artwork. The interest in using of bright colors brought an uplifting feeling to overall project and area.” “I really liked Ion Art's proposal, that they were considering the space and creating multiple sculptures and utilized a lot of color. I feel that this piece would be engaging for all sorts of community members.” “I chose Ion Art because I really love that they purposed something that would extend down the road in multiple sculptures. I loved the use of color and the idea of using different flowers at various stages. I feel they have the experience and ability to complete the task and fulfill the goals of the project and create a space that will be interactive to the community and be visibly pleasing to traffic on road or pedestrian traffic. I feel their idea was more interesting and innovative.” Recommended Artist Ross Rd. – Ion Art Recommended Alternate Ross Road – Dharmesh Patel "Dharmesh emphasized community ownership through physical engagement, mentioning "The residue of memory." The idea and understanding that people's interactions leaving fingerprints is a way of contributing to the artwork. I can also see how the use of crystals would make it a fun destination for people to experience." "I appreciate Dharmesh's use of light and form in their proposal. It is clear that they are very experienced in this sort of commission." "I chose Dharmesh Patel for the alternate because I liked that they had a desi gn idea that was a multiple sculpture design that had qualities that would make it more interactive for the community. They also put a lot of thought into the way the sculptures would create shadows at certain times. I like that pedestrian traffic would be able to walk through the multiple sculptures and it would also create a bit of shade." Recommended Alternate Ross Road – Dharmesh Patel Recommended Artist Johnny Morris Rd– Ender Martos "Ender demonstrated a genuine and thoughtful approach to community engagement that really resonated. I liked his approach of using different materials to capture different forms of light and shadow." "Ender clearly has a lot of experience with these types of commissions, I know he will create something beautiful. I appreciated his use of color." "I believe Ender Matos would be a fantastic choice for this project because he had a really nice design for a one sculpture idea which I believe would be better for Johnny Morris. I loved the way the sculpture would play with light to create color shadows on ground. I also think he has the experience and knowledge to be able to execute the project and I loved that he took his time to learn more about the community and talked a lot about collaboration and taking into account what the community wants." Recommended Artist Johnny Morris Rd– Ender Martos Recommended Alternate Johnny Morris Rd – Laura Garanzuay "Laura really considered how an artwork would be experienced from day to night. Her approach to making a "gateway" to the area was a unique and interesting approach to this project." "Laura's experience and thoughtfulness was evident. I appreciated her use of form and considerations of space." "I believe Laura Garanzuay would be a good alternative for this project. I loved the way her sculpture interacts with sun to create beautiful shadows of the flowers. I also liked that her sculptures use lights that allow the sculpture to be appreciated at night. She has the experience and creativity to be a great alternative backup." Recommended Alternate Johnny Morris Rd – Laura Garanzuay
