The contemporary and cohesive design aesthetic coupled artistic ingenuity and skill are some of the many factors that aided in my voting choice. –Jacqueline Overby I appreciated his use of light in the space. His pieces feel unique and unexpected. – Andrea McDowell Patel's work leans more on the conceptual, sculptural, and abstract side of art, and for some, that can either be harder for them to digest or something that feels very freeing as they experience his work. After considering everything, I finalized my vote for Patel because of his professionalism and practice. I believe he has the skillset to execute something that will have viewers in awe and gratitude. – Celica Ledesma Crystalline, 2016 Forest Bench, 2008 WHEN AIR BECOMES SKY, 2020 Recommended Alternate Artist: John Maisano My decision between these two applicants was hard because of how impressive John Maisano's work was. I found a cohesive aesthetic and demonstration of skill. The artistic style consistent throughout each piece was a clear example of the high level of artistic talent possessed by the app licant. – Jacqueline Overby I love how his pieces would appeal to families. They are unique but relatable. – Andrea McDowell I believe Maisano will be a great alternative for these upcoming projects due to his extensive portfolio of public sculptures and design. Maisano's work appears to be pristine and creative, hints back to wildlife and nature, and exudes a whimsical spirit. He has the skillset to create durabl e and large work and has great use of color. From what I seen he has plenty of work portraying animals which would be great for a park but I would like to see if has any figure work as well or if that is something he can produce but at the end of the day if he is a nature and wildlife artist then I would not want to disrespect his chosen subject matter. If he were to take on either of these projects, and someone were to ask him if he could create a figure sculpture, I would hope he could take on that challen ge as well.– Celica Ledesma Gracie giraffe, 2008 “Helios” wolf, 2018 Roxy, 2008 Turtle seat, 2016 Next Steps: Long & Trevino, Jr Metro Parks Artist Approvals AIPP Panel Arts Commission City Council Artist Contracting Walter E.
