REGULAR MEETING of the ARTS COMMISSION August 19, 2024, at 6:00 PM Austin City Hall, Council Chambers, Room 1001. 301 West 2nd Street, Austin, Texas 78701 The ARTS COMMISSION convened in a REGULAR meeting on 19, August 2024 at Austin City Hall, Council Chambers, Room 1001. 301 West 2nd Street, Austin, Texas 78701 Commissioner Zisman called the ARTS COMMISSION Meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Board Members/Commissioners in Attendance: Celina Zisman, Acia Gray, Gina Houston, Felipe Garza, Nagavalli Medicharla, Board Members/Commissioners in Attendance Remotely: Faiza Kracheni, Michael Vernusky, Keyheira Keys Board Members Absent: Heidi Schmalbach, Amy Mok, Monica Maldonado CURRENT COMMISSIONERS: Celina Zisman - Chair, Heidi Schmalbach - Vice Chair, Keyheira Keys, Monica Maldonado, Felipe Garza, Gina Houston, Michael Vernusky, Acia Gray, Faiza Kracheni, Amy Mok, Nagavalli Medicharla CALL TO ORDER PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: GENERAL AGENDA The first 10 speakers signed up prior to the meeting being called to order will each be allowed a three-minute allotment to address their concerns regarding items not posted on the agenda. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Approve the minutes of the Arts Commission Regular Meeting on July 15, 2024. Approve the Art in Public Places Sites and Opportunities Plan for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport The presentation was made by Jaime Castillo, Art in Public Places Program Manager and Constance White Art + Music Manager with Austin-Bergstrom International Airport A motion to approve the Art in Public Places Sites and Opportunities Plan for Austin- Bergstrom International Airport on Commissioner’s Gray motion, Commissioner Houston second on a 8-0 vote with Commissioner’s Schmalbach, Maldonado, and Mok absent Approve the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Art in Public Places Collections Management Policy Approve Art in Public Places Nominating Committee recommendations for two new Art in Public Places Panel Members Approve the Final Design for the AFD12 and AFD16 AIPP Projects with artist Xavier Schipani Approve the Final Design for the Dove Springs Health Facility AIPP Project with artist Amado Castillo III Approve New Artwork Loan for 2 outdoor murals at Central Health – Rosewood Zaragosa Clinic A motion to approve items 12 – 16 on consent on Commissioner Gray’s motion, Commissioner Garza’s second on a 8-0 vote with Commissioner’s Schmalbach, Maldonado, and Mok absent WORKING GROUP UPDATES Update from joint Arts/Music Commission Working Group on Urban Core Issues with Commissioners Gray, Maldonado, and Schmalbach (chair).
