Additional Backup Information: City of Austin Page 1 of 2 Printed on 2/7/2025 powered by Legistar™ (cid:5) (cid:6) File #: 25-0242, Agenda Item #: 3/6/2025(cid:4) The contract involves a comprehensive scope of work that includes the repair, construction, modification, and rehabilitation of existing parking lots and roadways at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). This encompasses a wide range of services such as subgrade repair to address structural issues, curb repairs to maintain proper drainage and traffic flow, and the application of seal coats to protect and extend the lifespan of the surfaces. Additionally, the contract covers striping to ensure clear traffic flow and the installation of signage to improve safety and navigation within the parking areas and roadways, as specific needs arise. These services are essential for maintaining the functionality and safety of the Airport’s infrastructure, ensuring it meets the demands of daily operations and future growth. This is an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract which provides for an indefinite quantity of services for a fixed time, usually an initial term with extension options. They are commonly used when precise quantities of supplies or services, above a specified minimum, cannot be determined. IDIQ contracts help streamline the contract process and service delivery and allow the City the flexibility to add work as needs arise or change. As each project is defined, a specific work assignment will be assigned to the contractor who will complete the scope of work for the unit prices included in the contract. Work deadlines will be established for each work assignment. The construction of additional parking enables construction of other projects for the Airport Expansion and Development Program (AEDP) as existing parking is taken out of service or replaced with new facilities that utilize AUS real estate for different optimal uses (i.e. an Arrivals and Departures Hall in lieu of an existing parking garage). If AUS parking facilities are not replaced or maintained there are large potential revenue impacts for the Airport. On-airport parking is a significant contributor to AUS’ revenue. Expanding, upgrading, maintaining, and repairing current parking and roadway facilities is important for maintaining customer safety and customer satisfaction. The base bid was used to identify and determine the lowest responsive bidder and to determine contract unit prices for each bid item. This item includes one allowance. The allowance of $2,000,000 will be used to address items not included in the bid. An allowance is an amount that is specified and included in the construction contract or specifications for a certain item of work whose details are not yet determined at the time of bidding. This request allows for the execution of a contract with Alpha Paving Industries LLC for an estimated period of two years with three one-year extensions. However, if funds for the initial term are expended staff may accelerate the extension options, but in no event will exceed the total contract amount. The extension options are subject to the agreement of both parties. Potential road and parking lot closures at the Airport are necessary to facilitate ongoing construction work. This project is located within zip code 78719 (District #2). City of Austin Page 2 of 2 Printed on 2/7/2025 powered by Legistar™ (cid:5) (cid:6)
