August 2024 Air Service Snapshot AUS monthly seat comparisons, January-December ‘24, compared to 2019 (pre-pandemic) (chart one) and compared to previous year (chart two): Source: Cirium schedule data. Highlights of recent air service announcements/developments include:  Aeromexico upgauged MEX service from 99-seat E190 to 160-seat B737-800 for June 21– Aug. 19 ’24, also Oct. 21-22 ’24 and then Oct. 28 ’24 onwards permanently  Air Canada resumed service to YVR on May 1 ’24 (served through Oct. 21 ‘24) & started new service to YUL eff. May 3 ’24 (served through Oct. 22); reduced YVR from 4/Wk to 3/Wk for June ‘24-August ‘24  Alaska suspended SJC after April 11 ‘24  Allegiant new 2/Wk service to EUG started May 31 ’24 (served through Aug. 13 ‘24); discontinued IAD & OMA after Aug 12 ‘24; suspended LAS for Aug 13 ’24-Jan 6 ‘25; will close its AUS crew base on January 7, 2025 which means service permanently cancelled to BZN, FSD, SDF & SNA after this Summer  American summary of 2024 service changes: o Discontinued ABQ, BZN, CVG, CZM, EGE, ELP, IAD, JAX, LAS, LIR, MBJ, MCI, MCO, MEM, MSY, NAS, OKC, PUJ, PSP, PVR, RSW, SMF, TPA & TUL o LAS, MCO & MSY service will end on Oct 6 ‘24 o RNO – resumed May 6, last flight on August 5 ‘24 o RDU will be suspended from Dec 19 ‘24 – April 3 ‘25 o PSP will not return on Oct 7 /24 as planned and is discontinued o Added Saturday only service to ECP and VPS for June 8 – August 3 ‘24 o Added 3 roundtrips to AGS in April ’24 for the Masters and 2 roundtrips to SDF in May ’24 for the Kentucky Derby o AA will discontinue IND service, last op on August 5 ‘24 o AA added roundtrip service to MSN on Aug 18 (Sun) and 21 (Wed) for the Epic UGM Conf o Following flights added for college football games:  DTW round trip on Sept 6 and 8  ATL-AUS on Oct 18 and AUS-ATL on Oct 20  XNA roundtrip on Nov 15 and 17  LEX-AUS on Nov 22 and AUS-LEX on Nov 24 o AA added ABQ roundtrips on Oct 4 & 13 for the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival o Note: Despite recent declines, in Dec ’24 AA is up nearly 50% in seats compared to pre- pandemic levels in Dec ’19. In addition to its hubs, AA operates a number of local markets including CUN, BNA, BOS, SNA, SJD, RDU, and ASE. At peak levels, AUS was AA’s 11th largest airport worldwide out of 342 airports. Based on scheduled seats in Dec ’24, AUS is AA’s 15th largest. The larger AA airports in order are DFW, CLT, MIA, PHX, ORD, PHL, DCA, LAX, LGA, JFK, MCO, BOS, LAS, and TPA.  Copa upgauged PTY from 737-800 (154-166 seats) to MAX9 with lie flat seats (174 seats) for May ‘24- April ‘25  Delta summary of 2024 service changes: o Started BNA 3x MAF 3x & MFE 3x in April ‘24 o Added AGS roundtrips on April 10 & 15 for the Masters golf tournament o Added service for college football games for the following weekends: FLL on Nov. 7; Gainesville (GNV) & TPA on Nov. 9; XNA on Nov. 16; and, Lexington (LEX) on Nov. 23 o DL reduced MAF from 3x->2x eff. Oct. 7 but added new service to HRL 1x in its place  Frontier started nonstop service to CLE 3/Wk on May 16 ‘24  Hawaiian added HNL 4th weekly flight for May 25 – Aug 3 ’24   KLM used the 318-seat B787-10 for April 1 – June 1 and will use the B777-200ER (288 seats) from June JetBlue discontinued FLL after April 30 ‘24; JFK will be suspended from Oct 27 ‘24-April 29 ’25. 3 – October 26; the 275-seat B787-9 returns on October 28  Lufthansa brought back the B787-9 (294 seat) starting Jan. 15 ’24 and increased service to 5/Wk on June 5 ’24 for the Summer season; extended the B787-9 service for Oct. 28 ‘24– Mar. 29 ’25 (IATA winter season) with 3/Wk  Southwest Sat. only SJU service started Mar 9 ’24 and loaded through Jan. 5 ‘25; SDF flights on May 2 & 5 for Kentucky Derby; OMA will operate on Saturdays for Nov. 23 ‘24– Jan. 4 ’25; Jan. 7 ’25 – March 5 ’25 will be revised again: M, Th, F schedule will increase from 111 to 115 departures & Sundays will increase from 124 to 125 departures, service to OMA & SJU will return during this time period  Spirit suspended LAX for December ’23 forward; EWR also suspended for Aug 14 – Oct 8  VivaAerobus started new MTY service eff. Mar. 22 ‘24  WestJet resumed seasonal YYC service on Apr 28 ’24 and will serve AUS through Oct. 24  August ‘24 v August ‘23 (down 1 destination based on monthly schedules): o + destinations: CLE, EUG, MFE, SDF, SJU, YUL o – destinations: BOI, JAX, LIR, MBJ, MEM, NAS, PUJ New AUS Nonstop Service for 2024: Source: Cirium schedule data. AUS Connecting Traffic Trends: Based on U.S. DOT O&D Passenger Survey, Cirium FM Traffic and ABIA statistics: 15.5% of AUS passengers in Q1 2024 were connecting between flights at the Airport.
